Redecorating Step One: Living Room

I am in desperate need of some apartment love. So, I’ve been given a fun project: Revamp our apartment and make it awesome while sticking to a budget. In general, I need to make better use of my space by chucking the things I don’t need, organizing the things I do, and making our little home much cuter in the process. Luckily, I have every episode of Nate Berkus recorded, I’m DIY prepared with tons of ideas and I’m an excellent deal finder.

Step one!: The living room.

Obviously the focal point of the living room is the couch. So my first step is to find an awesome couch that is comfortable, unique and pretty but still neutral enough to give me some wiggle room with surrounding decor (since I change it with the season using various throw pillows, etc.). I’m prepared to make this the chunk of my budget. Why? because we’re going to have it for a long time. And unlike most other redecorating pieces, I can’t DIY a couch (….or can I??? wait, no, no … I can’t). There are three hurdles here: 1) I have a difficult time committing to a decor theme (I love shabby chic, I fancy modern, I swoon over glam and I adore bright & colorful!). 2) This couch will be our couch for years (…meaning… it has to be baby friendly someday) and 3) I’m married (read: I have to live with a {Boy!} and I cant make everything pink!!). Given these challenges, here’s a few of my favorite inspirations thus far. Please do share your thoughts or ideas.
