How adorable and bad ass, all at the same time.

The past few weeks have been dreamy. Here’s three (of the many) reasons:
1.The hubs basically knocked it out of the park for my birthday. I woke up to peonies + breakfast + gift cards (does he know the way to my heart, or what?… flowers + shopping). We also, coincidentally, had family in town so I got to see a lot the faces I love.
2. The weekend before last, I met up with Meg from Mimi & Meg for brunch and while showing her around town, I found the CUTEST ampersand home accent at a local store called Random Harvest. (Psssst… This MAY be an upcoming giveaway!) I think it looks so cute next to my LuLu and Drew, don’t you!?
3. I’ve fallen back in love with these Missoni wedges. I got them last year at an end-of-season sale at Sassanova. Their EOS sales are always sick. These were originally 350(ish, I think) and I got them for $75. Ridiculous, right?
My second favorite non-holiday holiday is tomorrow!!!! Last year, a friend and event planner, Melissa Goodman submitted an awesome guest post with some Cinco de Mayo inspirations and I still love them! Hope you all enjoy some yummy margaritas + queso!

I love May. To me, it has to be the best month of the year. I like a reason to celebrate and there seems to be no shortage of reasons to celebrate in May. Apart from being the start of the warmer months (and the month of my birth), May has May Day, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Triple Crown Horse Racing and my favorite: Cinco de Mayo.
Cinco de Mayo is the perfect holiday to kick off the spring/summer party season. It celebrates a culture that uses festive colors in its traditional clothing and art AND boasts refreshing food and drink. The perfect combination for a spring fiesta.
All you need to set up a beautiful table for a Cinco de Mayo themed dinner or party are some fun, bold colors.
Dress up your table using a bright linen or funky table runner, vibrant spring flowers in a ceramic vase or repurposed tin can, and some traditional Mexican ceramic serveware.
The table will be such a stand out that you don’t have to do much beyond it to set the scene but a pretty crepe or glass bottle garland will complement it well. Now, for the festive beverages and cocktail treats!

Displayed art adds such a chic touch to any space and there are three artists that I have been LOVING lately: Nancy Ramirez of cozamia, Nicole Cohen of Sketch 42 and Nicole Cohen Art, and Anna White of Lonade Anna. You’ve likely heard of Nicole Cohen but if not, let me tell you, she’s kind of INCREDIBLE. She’s an artist, a mother, a designer, a DIY aficianado and, no doubt, a seriously stylish one. I first fell in love with her piece, Black, White and Neon but my affection was confirmed when I discovered others such as the Graffiti series and her Shower series–hotness. She has many other collections I could rave about, but I have to draw the line somewhere.
Lonade Anna is another fabulous one to watch. Her Etsy store is non-stop eye candy so be sure to check it out!!!

A bed sets the entire tone for your bedroom. A structured geometric one says simplistic minimalism while a wingback tufted says luxurious and cozy. I’ve been dying to get a new headboard for our bedroom–a pretty, girlie, makes you want to lay in bed for hours headboard. But first, the hubs and I have to pick one. As you can guess, the husband and I have very a different idea of what makes *the perfect* bed/headboard. There are just so many options! I also secretly want to just make one myself because I’ve seen so many awesome DIYs. I mean–check out the list below of so many DIY headboards! HOW FUN!? What do you think? Here’s a few that I think are adorable.

Anyone else itching to “spring” their home?! We love to wear pretty pastels like pink, peach and mint - so why not dress your home in them too! Pastels give a room such a sweet, delicate feel that can be very vintage and dainty. And if you’re not ready to take the plunge and splurge on a new pink refrigerator then try some throw pillows, new dish towels or a set of mixing bowls – easy, inexpensive, and let’s you have the freedom to change! Another great way to add some vintage pastel flair to your home is with framed photography. I stumbled upon a few Etsy shops (pictured below) and I think their pieces are so perfect for the vintage pastel home mission. A little nook of vintage framed pastels can add such elegance to your home. I am also sooo in love with these pastel kitchen ideas – swoon over these romantic inspirations. Isn’t being a girl fun!!!??
