We all have days where all we want to do is throw on some comfortable jeans and a T-shirt. And the best way to add a little personality to those relaxed and little-effort outfit days is to throw on a scarf you love. With so many different “wrapping styles” (pictured below), you create a unique look of your own with very little effort. Perfect solution to that Monday morning when you’re the only person you know who has to go to work….. (ahem…). While jeans, a T and a scarf is what Ill be wearing today, my inspirations below added scarves to outfits of all kinds! I love how scarves can add a perfect pop of color, balance your brighter pieces or serve to just keep you oh-so-warm!
Happy Monday!

I have always been a fan of menswear for women and whippedSTYLE has obviously had a long standing love of it as seen here. I have seen some oh-so-chic ladies rockin’ the tie and, most recently, the floppy bow tie! Get inspired by these business casual and sophisticated uses of the bow tie! Go classic with a traditional bow tie or try out a loose feminine bow tie. And take a gander at our tutorials on how to tie a bow tie –a proper tie is trickier than we thought!!!!

My mom gave me these shorts a few months ago. As she handed them to me she said, “I had these before you were even a thought.” She cracks me up. I was so excited to receive the vintage hand-me-down but they needed to be tailored a little so this post has been delayed since I tweeted about getting these. But they were well worth the wait! I really love how they came out!!!

I have officially found a new obsession for this summer: Maxi Dresses and Maxi Skirts. They are casual but dressy, chic but not too over the top, and a simple solid colored dress can be the foundation or the statement piece of your entire ensemble! Solid colored maxi dresses are everywhere and are now affordable for everyone. My favorite one right now is my black maxi dress that I got for just $30.00 and I’ve been able to create several different looks.
We’ve gone over some rules of thumb for wearing maxi dresses before and at first we really favored the print maxi. But after some exploration we’ve grown to love the simple foundation and versatility offered by the solid. For a more sleek look, choose black or a darker color. Pair your maxi dress with a cute sweater, blazer, denim jacket or just wear it as it is and accessorize! Keep the accessories to a minimum, but keep them bold. You can try a more edgy look by wearing it with a leather jacket and boots (thats one), or a more bohemian look by pairing it with a denim jacket, natural-looking sandals and a hat (thats two). Another look could be a more chic presentation, pairing the maxi dress with a blazer and nice heels (three) or and over sized cardi and Toms (and four). Here are a few photos I found through my blog of people rocking their maxi inspirations!

A must have for every style savvy girl’s closet, the signature blazer is something every woman needs. Whether it is form-fitting fit or a boyfriend fit (my personal favorite), blazers are amazing pieces to either add sophistication or a more put together look. This season, blazers can be found in any colour and style and finding the perfect blazer just for you just got easier! There are crochet blazers, floral blazers, boyfriend fits, straight fits, and in all colors of the rainbow! When wearing your blazer, keep your look either simple with jeans, a white or black tshirt, and nice oxfords or dress it up with a fun dress and heels. Accessories never fail, so style it with a gold boyfriend watch and stack on the bangles! For that “something extra” add a fedora or a statement necklace. Here are some looks I gathered through my personal blog that I couldn’t wait to share with whippedSTYLE readers.

Lauren Conrad dishes out some of our favorite looks that just ooze unpretentious cool. Her chic, but laid back styles are always cute and versatile while her red carpet looks are always top glam. Her designs available at Khols are adorable, wearable, and, the best part, affordable. Over the years, her style has just remained impeccable and we love that we’ve watched this grounded gal grow into her own before our very eyes. The California native definitely knows what works–and what doesn’t. Her nautical glam screams of her home town, Laguna Beach, and we love how she can effortlessly pull together a chic but casual look. Since the release of her latest book, Lauren Conrad Style By Lauren Conrad, we’ve gotten an even closer look into her secrets to style success. Here’s a few of our fave LC looks:

Ever have times when you just don’t know which color to paint on your nails? There’s always a great Go-To: Red. Whether it’s a dark red or a cherry red, it goes perfect with any ensemble. It’s classy, chic and can act as the “statement” of your wardrobe. Red nails can be seen on some of our favorite style loves like Olivia Palermo, Mary-Kate Olsen and Lauren Conrad. My favorite red nail polish is O.P.I.’s “The Thrill of Brazil” but I am currently loving a darker red from O.P.I called “Got The Blues For Red.” And all I can say is I definitely got the blues…for red!
