When I saw this dress hanging on the rack — last one in my size — I nearly died. It’s by one of my favorite designers and was originally $500 but I found it for $180 yay!
The fabric is so soft and airy and it’s a total twirl piece, which you know I love. And it makes it the perfect piece for my last assignment with TJMaxx which was to style a floral-inspired look fit for a garden party.
While not ‘florals’ per se, I love how this piece embraces an almost water color print using warmer hues. And I just adore the sheer back — it’s so pretty! Bonus, the clutch is actually from a local designer who I LOVE, so that was an amazing TJMaxx score as well! (not to sound like a commercial, haha)
Well ladies, I’m off to the beach! Can. Not. Wait. to have my toes in the sand with the fam. Will be sure to IG all the fun!!

How many more days until my toes are in the sand? TWO TOO MANY! Just kidding—I know I can’t complain. As I was packing for my upcoming trip, I realized how excited I was to pack up a summer floppy hat or two!! I immediately started of thinking of fun ways to incorporate the floppy hat into more everyday looks. Here’s a few of my favorite inspirations for how to wear the summer floppy.
Because I just ran a half marathon!!! Wooohooo!!! And now I totally have the bug. While I would never do a full, I’m so so thrilled I finally tried a half and I can’t wait to do another one so I can beat my time. I know, I know. I said I wasn’t going to care about my time. I said I’d be happy just to finish it blah, blah, blah. But really, who’m I kindling? I care! I averaged 11 minute miles pretty much the whole way and came in a 2:26 — Not bad for only having four weeks to train, but let’s see if we can’t get that under two hours with some proper training, hehe. YAY!!!! And can we talk about our race medals? Super chic, Tiffany’s!!! Here’s a few highlights from the experience and how adorable is this little Monday morning Etsy discovery!!! This journal offers up the perfect Monday morning message, don’t you think?! It’s such a cute shop, too, so browse around!

It’s time to pack up because next weekend I’ll be heading to Key West for a wedding!!!!! I’ve been so caught up with training, work and life that truthfully it didn’t occur to me that the first weekend in May was NEXT weekend. What’s happening!? So I JUST started browsing some beachy favorites and need to hit the mall this weekend to find the perfect bikini and/or one piece. Love any of these? I tend to be all over the map with my beachwear. Sometimes I like a boho feel and others I can’t get enough of dainty touches. So ultimately I just mix it up. Hope you all have an amazing weekend and if you’re in the DC area come down to the Nike Women’s Half Marathon grounds on Sunday and swing by the bareMinerals Booth–it’s going to be AMAZING (five words: twitter activated makeup vending machine). XO!
Well guys, this is it! When we talk again I’ll have (hopefully) completed a half marathon!! So crazy!!! Never a mil would I have imagined. Well.. that’s kind of a lie. I’ve always wanted to do one but it wasn’t exactly like I was actively seeking the opportunity, you know? And I DEFINITELY didn’t think I’d train for one in four weeks. (If you missed that story, you can read about it here.) Obviously I owe a HUGE thanks to bareMinerals for sponsoring me for the run! In the next two weeks I’ll share some tidbits about how I trained and what nutrients I focused on. I’m also teaming up with the peeps at my gym, Equinox, to share my favorite stretching routines for before and after runs (they’re killer). And of course some makeup fun!! Can’t wait! Wish me luck (I need it eeeek!)
Oh! And like I said in today’s post, if you’re in the DC area, come by the bareMinerals booth to grab one of these YUMMY Georgetown cupcakes, some makeovers and some sweet hookups on my favorite makeup! YAY!
P.S. can we talk about my inner fat girl? As you can see, I couldn’t even take a picture before sneaking in a bite from the bottom! They’re that good.
Versatile Verticals–say that 5 times fast. (oh.. it’s actually not that hard, nevermind)
I started seeing more and more bold, vertical stripes shirts and loved it–but now they seem to be few and far between! Hopefully I can scope out some more good ones because I think they make such an easy go-to piece for summer. I love how you can pair a more striking black and white stripe blouse with a dramatic heel for an ultra high-class look but wear a similar top with cut-offs, a fedora and gladiators for a more boho-meets-nautical feel. Those Rachel Zoe gladys down there? In love!
