As I mentioned in this post, I’ve been love love loving the black & white trend this season. I usually lean towards very geometric pieces, but when I saw this adorable dress I thought it looked like such girly fun. Plus, I already had the perfect top in mind for a little layering experiment and found the cutest black & white necklace!

hairSTYLE: Side Braid + Messy Bun
My go-to has always been a messy bun, but sometimes my bangs decide to have a mind of their own and the messy bun just doesn’t work anymore. That is why the very cute, very elegant and easy-to-do side braid with a messy bun is my new go-to. So summery, right? It literally takes all of 10 minutes (maybe 5 if you’re a speedy braider) and the best part is that the look can transition from casual day to romantic dinner without having to re-do it. You only need 3 things to complete this look: a handful of bobby pins, a hair tie (optional) and a little hair spray. The tutorial at the end is perfection!

A Few Things On My Spring Wish List: Part Three
I have been shoe. obsessed. lately. What is wrong with me?! I had to really hold back in not making this yet another round up of my favorite shoes out there right now. Luckily, there are plenty of other pieces that have stolen my heart in the last week or so. Here’s a few things I’m wishing I could add to my closet. That Marc Jacobs wallet? That wallet would mean I’d be taking more trips on which I need nothing more than ‘just my wallet.’ Well, just my wallet and these heels + boyfriend jeans. In love with it!
Check out my Spring Wish List Part 1 and Spring Wish List Part 2, too!
Big Exciting Things on the Horizon
Hello!! Big exciting things to announce today! This weekend was madness–but the good kind of madness. It started out with an awesome photo shoot I did for another local blogger (more on that later). Then I headed to the LOFT Grand Opening I told you all about, which was so much fun (more on that later as well!). But the icing on the cake, and the prequel to my big news, is that I actually ran the D.C. Cherry Blossom 10-miler. Me. I ran it. And seriously how pretty was our sunrise for it yesterday?!
If you had told me three weeks ago I’d be running the Cherry Blossom 10-miler I would have laughed in your face. Until yesterday the longest race I ever ran was a 10k. I’ve always been a ‘jogger’ who enjoys a nice 3-mile run once or twice a week, but never a ‘runner’ who trains for 6, 8 or 10-mile runs. No, no. I typically stick to yoga several times a week and I do the strength training classes at Equinox as often as I can. But, two weeks ago I got some news that re-sparked my enthusiasm for running and quickly launched me into serious training mode: I’ll be running the Nike Women’s Half Marathon on behalf of bareMinerals! Woohoooo!!!! I’m so excited. Here’s how it all happened…

5 Things You Didn’t Know About A.L.C.
I clearly remember the first time I walked into an A.L.C. boutique in NY. I was immediately smitten: the clean lines; the feminine pieces with just a touch of boyish charm; the interesting fabrics—I was in heaven. But I didn’t know too much about the brand or the woman behind the line until recently. Now ‘Im even more in love!!! Here’s a few fun facts about A.L.C. and the genius behind the line.
1. Launched by Andrea Lieberman in 2009, A.L.C. stands for Andrea Lieberman Collection.
2. She’s a little globe trotter! Born and raised in NYC, Andrea Lieberman attended Parson’s to study fashion with the dream of one day launching her own label. After graduation she traveled the world, working for the likes of Giorgio Di Sant’Angelo and Romeo Gigli. She also spent two years living in Africa where she became inspired by eccentric jewelry and fine textiles.
3. A.L.C. wasn’t Andrea’s first venture. After returning to NYC, she opened her first boutique called Culture and Reality, which eventually led her into the world styling.
4. She got up close and personal with Gwen Stefani and was even involved with the initial design and launch of L.A.M.B. Who knew?!
5. In her styling career, Andrea Lieberman was responsible for THIS. True story.
Here’s a few of my favorite pieces from her line available on Shopbop. But be sure to check out her website, too!! So many more dreamy pieces. Her spring 2013 line is literally killing me. Anyone have a black amex they feel like parting with?
Leather Shorts: Why They’re The Summer Staple You Need
While I’m loving the leather trimming we’ve been seeing EVERYWHERE, I’m still a sucker for leather leggings, tops, dresses and SHORTS!!! For some reason I never got around to buying a pair last season… but I never make the same mistake twice. And I’ve found so many amazing leather shorts to choose from–even some bargain buys in the favorites below! Leather shorts are hands down the best way to add a little umph and edge to your look and they’re so easy to style. Even a plain white t-shirt does the trick and BAM, you look super put-together and stylish. Dying over the elastic waisted ones with zipper pockets–so gorgeous, right?! Here’s a few of my favorite looks.
The Best Maxi Dresses For Spring
Don’t worry, Rach. Some of us still LOVE maxi dresses and skirts. Seriously one of my favorite staple pieces for spring. Maxi dresses just make me feel like a girl, you know? Feeling the fabric wisp between your legs when you walk, having to lift a side when you walk up steps… there’s just something so dainty and lady-like about a maxi. Here’s a few of my favorite maxi dresses for spring thus far. Of course Issa is on point… really with this high-glam number? And I wish I had a place to wear this one… okay.. and the budget!!! GOR.GEOUS. But I think this is my favorite in the ‘affordable’ and ‘practical’ arena. Imagine the layering potentials!!
