As I mentioned in this post, I’ve been loving lacey touches this season. It’s such a great texture for winter that looks perfect with anything from faux furs to bright colors or muted prints; really just adds that extra layer of love, don’t you think? And while lace tends to be soft and dainty, it’s so fun to add a little surprise by making lacey numbers a little more edgy. Try wearing lace with pieces like leather leggings, a leather jacket or a jacket with leather sleeves–perfection. You can also add an edgy feel through your accessories by pairing lace with studs, suede or bold prints. Plus, lace shirts and dresses are a blast to layer with the pieces move perfectly into spring!!!
My latest fall obsession is leather sleeve jackets. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a full leather jacket , but something about leather sleeves on a jacket screams ‘tres chic’ to me and who doesn’t want to wear something that makes you feel chic?! Leather sleeve jackets are definitely worth the investment so don’t hesitate on getting one–not many pieces pull off being so statement and so versatile at the same time!
As much as I rave about leather jackets, I think it’s weird that I still don’t have one! There was a great one at Gap that was reasonably priced– I missed it. Then there was a great faux at forever 21–I missed it. Really? Other than that, there a few other, random things on my rolling wish list! Pink and green bottoms are must haves for spring and Old Navy has some great ones right now so definitely check them out!
While turtlenecks don’t seem like the most sexy of options, when it’s this cold outside, you forfeit for the oh-so-warm factor. Since we can’t so easily reach for our jeans and tee… and the object of layering can get tricky (cuffed blazer + my winter coat = chunker, bunched arms and serious discomfort, the turtleneck is a great alternative! To add some flavor to this standard piece, pair a simple turtleneck with a more luxurious texture like leather or sparkles! Or get a super chunky cowl necked piece to add a bit of drama to a basic item. Plus you can do some fun layering with the sweaters, jackets and vests. Also, unless you’re a super model with a long neck, pull your locks back in a perfect pony or top knot to bring some attention to your face!! It makes a world of difference in a turtleneck. Check out some chic inspirations to stay warm and jazz up a solid turtleneck!
The leather jacket she was wearing in her Gotta Get Over You video was the hotness. Thanks to twitter and Sara’s tendency to actually respond to fan Qs– we know where we can find all the details!!! How annoying is it that two awesome things I found today were sold out?? Sorry guys. BUT!!! Its still a fun song and this helps me find some direction so I can start looking for more and you can always see our post on leather jackets until then.
During the cold weather months I always say that your outerwear is your outfit. To add a little spark to your outer ensembles, try some vibrant or embellished leather gloves. They are a great way to add that perfect pop of color, interest, and fun to your outerwear. Be ambitious with color by pairing a bold hued glove with one of this season’s fabulously bright colored coats, and the more studs, bows, and zippers, the better!
If you follow me on twitter or Facebook, you know my husband recently stumbled upon Mayer Hawthorne. Ever since, Hawthorne has become a minor major obsession of mine. He’s kind of the cutest thing Ive ever seen and, aside from his good looks and charm, his music is everything that is perfect about Sunday mornings. It’s semi-romantic, oftentimes funny, usually sexy and undeniably fun. With his doo-wop-esk tone, Mayer Hawthorne inspires very ‘Mad Men-inspired‘ looks with a bit of a badass twist. Would you agree? In the look below I feel like you’d find me in a bar sipping a martini- shaken not stirred- and in my Chole bag you’d find the perfect shade of red Yves Saint Laurent lipstick and a twenty-two (as if I even know what a twenty-two looks like… but it sounds pretty badass).
